ITEC 610 Week 3

I am so excited that I got an early start on my homework this week. I hope to keep this going for the rest of the semester. I was happy I could provide some information on how "data at rest" can be protected. Many of the discussion board topics I have some general knowledge of. One of my other classmates mentioned off-site backups, and for some reason I thought Lockheed was the only company that did that. I know how naive can I be? I'm happy to know that other companies use similar strategies to solve common security issues with different technologies.

I'm glad we had a mini-3 project with respect to zillow.com. The website has changed a lot since the last time I've used it, which was at least two years ago. It seems they have made some upgrades to the site to make it more user friendly and it seems they have made it easier to access information. I still think that homedatabase.com is a better website for a consumer that is looking for homes in the DC Metro area, because it gets all its information straight from the MLS or property records. I'm still not sure what I want to do my group project assignment on, but I will post some of my ideas once I think of a few. Right now its still early in the week and my mind is starting to drift toward Game 3 of the NBA finals. :)

  1. Jade,

During a conference in Las Vegas, I learned that all the gambling hotels have live remote backup of all of their financial and customer data so it is not only Lockheed Martin that uses that technology. Sands, Harrah's/Caesar's Palace, MGM, etc. maintain high bandwith connection with backup data repositories located miles away from Vegas.
